Harry Gesner talks about inspiration for architecture (VIDEO)

When I sat with Harry, he talked about many topics such as; his father, who was an inventor, traveler etc., –quite a man’s-man. I asked him about Chemosphere and John Lautner (appears next week on this site) – He waxed about his creative inspiration and vision for the projects that he created. He told me that the most important project he ever worked was “the one I was working on at that very moment.” Undoubtedly, he is a part of California’s history and lifestyle–His designs have paved the way for many architects who have come after him, are recognized all over the world. Jokingly, I mentioned that most of his contemporaries were not available for interviews, because they are all dead! He mentioned his desire to surf still burns brightly, although being slowed by age. At 87 years old, Mr. Gesner has the enthusiasm and brilliance of any man 50 years his junior. His unquenchable thirst for life drives me to seize each day like the only the dying can- I am in awe. Watch as he talks about his inspiration for architecture and how ones experience forges creation.
